Pregnancy Testing
At Choices, we offer confidential, lab-quality pregnancy testing at no cost to our clients. However, our clients receive much more than just a test and a result!
Each client meets with an advocate who takes the time to get to know them and assess their particular situation and needs. The advocate also presents the options of parenting, adoption, and abortion: allowing time for the client to ask questions and feel truly informed and empowered in her choice. If her test is positive, our nurse or other medical professional will check vitals and discuss prenatal vitamins if needed, discuss sexual health and set up an STI testing appointment, as well as start a WIC application if desired. Her client advocate will also put together a packet of information and resources customized to meet her unique needs. Depending on how far along the client is in her pregnancy, an obstetrical ultrasound may be scheduled.
Limited Obstetrics Ultrasound
Depending on how far along a pregnancy is, our clients are offered a limited obstetric ultrasound at no cost to them. Being able to see their baby on the screen is often the first real connection that our clients feel to their baby. Many decisions for life are made after an ultrasound at our clinic.
Each ultrasound appointment has a pre and post appointment meeting with the client’s advocate to further discuss how they are feeling regarding pregnancy and address any concerns that the client may have. The father of the baby, family member, or friend is welcome to be included in the ultrasound appointment if desired.
STD Testing and Treatment
We offer confidential and cost free STD testing and treatment for both male and female clients. We currently test for Gonorrhea, Syphilis, HIV, and Chlamydia. In addition to testing, each client meets with our nurse or medical professional to assess their health and unique concerns. Sexual health education is also provided at each appointment. Additional resources, appointments, and education are available as desired.
